Plan for "The Lost Friend" essay In my story there is 1 main character, Alexandra. Alexandra was the class valedictorian when she graduated high school and during her speech she said "my time here is done." Everyone thought she was referring to her time in high school but she actually meant her time helping Michael through high school. When Michael was younger his best friend Alexandra had been killed in a train accident. He never got over it and he would not talk to people. The kids in his class and in other classes started to tease him. As Alexandra watched from heaven she realized that she had to go back to earth and help Michael through high school. She decided that it was her mission to show Michael that even though someone you love is no longer with you, you can still enjoy life. Alexandra asks one of the angels in heaven if she can go back and the angel says yes but after high school ends, no matter what, she has to come back. She agrees and goes back to earth as a new girl, Stacey. She becomes friends with Michael who finds something very familiar about Stacey but he cannot figure out what. After high school she leaves because she feels like she has done her job. She showed Michael that it is okay to have friends and that even though someone you love is not with you, you can still live life. The story takes place in Omaha, Nebraska between 2005 and 2007. The problems for Alexandra are trying to find ways to break Michael out of his shell and let him get close to people again. She knows that his fear is that once he becomes close to someone they will die and he will be left alone again. Alexandra solves the problem by getting him involved in after school groups where he can meet other people and make new friends. She figures that he will have a better time being friends with a lot of people because then in his mind, the chance of them all dying at the same time would be very slim. The story is being told through Alexandra’s eyes. She learns through Michael that even though you do not have a friend with you physically, you can always have them with you if you remember them.
